A witch called Hazel holds out a wand with an open book, and ponders over the days spells.

The book of spells sits on her studio table in front of a set of ceiling high gothic windows. Burning candles, potions, an old container of drawing tools and a stained glass vintage lamp all have their place here.

The black cat takes prime position on a cushioned stool, ready to purr her approval of the magic about to begin. A worn checkered rug lays on the floor, set to cushion the feet of whoever comes. A weathered broom in one corner, a cauldron of roses in the next. Philip the sleepy frog is waking up for the day, embracing his hand knitted witches hat, to feel part of the group.

Beside Hazel is a decorative cabinet that extrudes into the walls on the top half, giving extra table space on the bottom. The lower shelves hold preserved pumpkins cut from Halloween, a tea pot and cup that refills every hour, a basket of flowers… because you can never have enough, and a terrarium display: the home of a recovering butterfly. The taller shelving keeps a collection of books, growing since childhood; a skull to keep things looking spooky, lanterns for when they are needed and a space for a crow to rest.

The walls are home to spiderwebs and ceramic pendant lights, bunches of dried flowers and herbs, tied around twine and hanging pot plants that trail down, down, down. Vines are forever climbing along creases and cracks while moths flutter and bats hover, curious to see what is about to begin.

The card is designed, printed and assembled by the artist onto 300gsm textured paper with a handmade patterned envelope. Blank on inside.
